This very special hand woven cotton ikat midi kaftan which we call Estancia, is certain to get you noticed! We at Pax Philomena are proud to support the artisans who still practice the ancient art of ikat, where threads are intricately bound and dyed before weaving. The result is a vivid, multicolor pattern that tells a story of tradition and craftsmanship.
The cotton is mid-weight as it take a heavier cotton yarn to hand weave this intricate fabric. This kaftan looks great over boots, over jeans, or as a dress, and it has a fun fringe at the bottom which adds the final touch! It is not transparent.
To appreciate this artistry, Jean Marie, the founder of Pax Philomena, embarked on a special journey to the vibrant villages of South India to seek out these unique fabrics for Pax Philomena. There, master artisans shared their time-honored techniques and stories. She then had these magnificent hand woven ikat fabrics made into these beautiful limited edition dresses just for you! As the fabric is so difficult to weave we have very few of these dresses available.
